Typical figures, and every aircraft is configured a little differently. Hourly numbers are broad US estimates before tax and fees.

Range is typical published range with reserves; cabin height is the maximum along the aisle.

Quote two sizes

Ask for a light jet and a midsize, or a midsize and a super-midsize, and compare the all-in prices side by side.

Value tips by size

  • Turboprops cost the least per hour and use short runways. On trips under about 90 minutes, they are often the best value of all.
  • Light jets suit four to six passengers for up to about three hours. Beyond that, a stop for fuel or a bigger jet is usually needed.
  • Midsize jets fly about as far as light jets. The extra cost buys cabin height and bag space, not range.
  • Super-midsize jets cost more per hour but can fly coast to coast nonstop, which sometimes means fewer billed hours.
  • Empty legs come in every size, so a larger aircraft can occasionally cost less than a smaller one on the right day.

What else is in the price

  • The 7.5% federal excise tax on US domestic charter, plus a segment fee of about $5 per passenger per leg.
  • Repositioning: flying the aircraft to you and home again, unless it is already nearby.
  • Daily minimums, often one to two billed hours for each day the aircraft is with you.
  • Crew overnights, landing and handling fees, and international fees on trips abroad.
  • Winter de-icing, catering and Wi-Fi where used. An all-in quote shows them up front.
